Job Summary
Under direction by senior-lead technologists and the Histology supervisor, the incumbent serves as a Histotechnologist in the Histology laboratory. Duties include tissue processing, embedding, paraffin sectioning, H&E staining, Special Staining, and other technical duties as assigned which may include rotation in the Immunoperoxidase Lab. Rotates weekly between workstations within the lab. Work schedule is variable to include rotating Saturdays and holiday coverage as scheduled. Incumbent must be able to flex work hours, starting as early as 4:30AM, or as needed to meet Department operational needs and cover work rotations.
Required Qualifications
HT-II:
Two years college coursework including courses in biology, chemistry, math or equivalent combination of education and two years of experience as a histotechnologist in a high-volume hospital histology laboratory within the last five years. Demonstrated high-volume, high-quality sectioning skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. required. Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and perform well under pressure to meet deadlines. ASCP certification: HT or HTL eligible required.
HT-I: Two years college coursework including courses in biology, chemistry, math or equivalent combination of education and one year of experience in a hospital histology laboratory. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
ASCP certification: HT licensed strongly preferred. HTL desirable.
License/Certification
ASCP certification and HT licensed.
